Transforming Potential: A Business Student’s mentoring journey with ThinkEngine

At ThinkEngine, we’re passionate about supporting the next generation of talent. After attending a guest lecture by our Managing Director, Ben Michaelis, a Business Management undergraduate from Solent University reached out for advice. It sparked an inspiring mentoring journey, here’s what they had to say about their experience of Ben’s support:

“As a business student at Solent University, I was immediately inspired by Ben when he came in for a guest lecture and from that I took on board what he said and contacted him via LinkedIn over just some advice for my course. Though, Ben went above and beyond with that advice then becoming weekly mentoring sessions as I developed my understanding on what it takes to create my own website and truly uncovering the skills to run a business. Likewise, on a personal level I gained confidence in my abilities through the advice gained and the support that I now have.

My sessions were tailored to what I wanted to know more about, and it was very apparent that I wanted to look deeper into what goes into building a brand and how to actually do it. To develop this further, I was able to visit the Think Engine office where the lovely and talented Chloe and Charlotte offered me the rundown of their day-to-day tasks as well as answer the abundance of questions I had. This was an experience which I was extremely grateful for as they took their time showing me the current projects they were working on.

Overall, I couldn’t recommend Ben as a mentor enough as though the weekly calls have come to an end, I know that with just a text he will offer the best advice he can. As well as that I now am confident in using design websites like Glide and Canva to a greater level.

If I was to share one bit of advice that I have uncovered through Ben, it is to always go back to your reason why you are doing something as that will motivate you and help identify your purpose. To sum up, a huge THANK YOU to Ben who has been a big boost in with my university course and future career.”
